How I Met Your Mother 7.02 - The Naked Truth

How I Met Your Mother 7.02 - The Naked Truth

Brief Summary

Marshall gets a call from a firm that is interested in bringing him on board, but first they need to run some background checks. Marshall finds a video of himself streaking from college, and frantically tries to get the person who posted it to take it down. Meanwhile, Barney finally gets a date with Nora, but doesn't exactly show his best side. Regardless, he vows not to leave the diner until she comes back for a second date. Ted is using the magazine article about him to try to pick up girls, and ends up dating two girls at once.

What I Liked

I liked Marshall's freakout in the beginning, and his comments about possibly working at Taco Bell. Robin's attempts to get Ted to invite her to the architect's ball were funny. And, of course, Ted seeing Victoria catering at the ball was awesome. I can't wait to see how they deal with that.

What I Didn't Like

I'm sorry, but I'm not buying Barney's storyline with Nora. He's trying way too hard to win her back, and prove that he's changed, and we aren't given the slightest reason as to why. Also, it doesn't make a bit of sense for Nora to continue seeing him. Barney is charming, yes, but he doesn't exactly seem like someone she'd go for. And since Barney was tied up in the diner the whole episode, he barely interacted with the rest of the gang.

Twists and Turns

Bringing Victoria back is an awesome move. Things with her and Ted ended terribly (she'd moved to Germany for an internship, and Ted essentially cheated on her with Robin while they were still in a long-distance relationship), and we haven't seen her for 6 years. I'm very curious what she's been up to in that time, and what seeing her again will do to Ted, who is already feeling pretty depressed about his own dating life.

Observations

Barney is wearing "the ducky tie" mentioned in the previous episode in the scene where Marshall and he are at the casino, and he's looking quite serious. I wonder what in the world Marshall is doing there.

Overall

I didn't like this one nearly as much as the premiere, and since it aired right after, it's hard not to compare the two. Marshall's storyline was goofy but had some laughs, and I do like where they're going with Ted to a certain extent. Revisiting Victoria is an awesome move, but I hope they don't make him too much like Barney in his attempts to pick up girls. And again, I'm not feeling the Barney/Nora story at all. It's dull, and I'm confused since we have no reason why Barney would want to change that much for someone. I also hope they don't separate him from the group too much just so he can interact with her in the future.
